So all the majors have come and gone, and there were two course updates!! Wonderful! Unfortunately, being on here for 2 years I know that I might as well put the mouse down till Feburary because there won't get any updates in courses and equipment. Gotta svae $ somehow. Anybody who disagrees?

So you can only play the courses when they are in the opens???????? Unlike last year with Oakmont they made Congressional available for all types of play as soon as the open was over. Play the 6 courses we have until we get the open courses for next year. 7 if you count Cabo.

You're right, Sting, but what I think the OP is talking about is the overall excitement and participation in a major event like the Opens. The forum buzzed with threads about it and how to play and there was a tangible excitement about it. Now things are left to the CC scene or individual play and I can see his point.

Personally, I'm hoping we don't have to settle for 2 courses a year in the spring.

Too bad WGT doesn't sponsor there own Major tourneys, I could see something like paying x credits for a week of qualifying, payouts could be in gift cards, credits, etc  Probably wouldn't generate as much play as the Opens do, but just give us another venue to work with and keep some excitement up.

i was just making the point that it loses a lot of excitement when the majors are done. WGT should do something to spice it up. I'm going to keep playing, but the excitement and participation isn't there. With all the $ they are raking in from clubs and stuff, they should be getting more courses up regularly. Just one man's opinion

The course 4 next years PGA Championship is there: Kiawah Island. Would be nice 2 play it as a kind of Major - dont think it will be an official 1 cause there isn't a partnership with the PGA.

I like the post cause I feel the exact same way, BUT think about this......If we had the Opens every 1-2 months then it would not be as exciting.  See how we are anxious  already for the next open and how much "build up" the wait has already created?

Maybe then there could be a 1/2 way tournament, like maybe around the first of the year. Something WGT sponsored with big prizes.

I think this a great idea. Let's put it this way. We've all read the posts about the calls for the opens to have single play qualifying. How about a tournament on the existing courses (as YJ says at the beginning of the year) that are similar the the weekly multi-round tourneys?

We've already been playing (practicing) at these venues and know where we need to be on all holes, what if (BIG IF HERE), WGT did a tournament similar to the weekly multi-round? For example, Monday-Thursday, SIngle Play (18 holes) at St. Andrews, Friday-Sunday, Single Play at Oakmont (18 holes).

WGT could then sort out over the next few days, the qualifiers (156 plus ties) and announce by Thursday at the latest, the two venues that will be used as the final rounds (to allow for weekend practice).  The next week, would be the championship rounds (the scores from the qualifying rounds would still count towards your total score). After all, in a real golf tournament, the first two rounds before the cut aren't for just qualifying (although I would love to see what the results would be if you reset to scores for the weekend).

Basically, in about January, we would get another major tourney (WGT,  to determine prizes of course), that would allow plenty of practice and would have four 18 hole single play tournaments to determine the winner. I hope this makes sense to everyone.

I would like the idea of 4 majors per year, but at this point in time it takes 6 months and and i have read some posts at a cost of $250,000+ to generate one of these courses.    With that said, I like two new courses per year when they are done in HD and done right.   We all know about Cabo and I am sure thats not the last course to be introduced in that format.

Another thought would be to play, play, and play some more so that maybe next year you can actually qualify and participate in the Majors, all though nerve racking its the best WGT experience any one player can ask for.

    Cheers,
