One issue is that I do not believe WGT has ever officially said sandbagging is against the rules. Technically, they are violating no T&C rules by not tiering up.
My suggestion, which I have raised several times, is to include match play winnings in a players career winnings, and have a second trigger for elevation. Keep the current X avg. over Y rounds, but add in a winnings based trigger similar to that mentioned above. Once you win $10 by any method at Hack, you automatically elevate regardless if you still have a 150 stroke average, etc. etc. We concentrate on the MPCs, but it isn't fair for players in tier RGs or even the free tourneys to have to compete against players obviously much better than their tier. It's the same with the dual-accounts. It's isn't fair to the legit players.
And there lies the crux of my issues with WGT's enforcement. I understand that WGT is wary of penalizing or punishing someone unjustly. However, there are people that are spending their hard-earned money here, in this economy, and are doing it legitimately. WGT's obligation is to err in favor of those players, not in favor of the cheaters and neer-do-wells. In addition, as this is skill-gaming, WGT has an obligation to make the playing field as level as they can, and if someone has to end up unjustly penalized, to me that is favorable to someone being allowed to continue playing illegally. In other words, I believe WGTs first obligation should be to make sure they are providing the legit players with a level playing field before worrying that they might be penalizing someone wrongly.
The good of the many outweighs the good of the few, especially when the many are legit and the few may not be.
