    Hanswurst72:

-4 after 3 is nonsense... i played my first round, was -2 after 3 and didnt make a single eagle the whole way. Finished at 55. Who needs eagles or hitting the par5 greens in 2?

    Cheers, Hans

So you birdied EVERY hole after the 3rd?

yeah ball found the hole every time, really hot flatstick... sometimes it just goes well when you get really focussed. But i just wanted to show that a brilliant start is not necessarily needed.

    Cheers, Hans

    iukine:

Wgt needs to address this nonsense as soon as possible, just so all who play here are no longer cheated out of their credits for all the balls they buy, which is what it boils down to, so figure it out. I'm gonna take some heat for this, from all different directions, but I feel it's worth it to get WGT to do something about it.

If it upsets you that much why don't you play one time ready goes instead of these unlimited tournaments? We only get one shot in those. AND you have a chance to actually win something.

Or if you insist on playing the unlimited tournament over and over and over again (boring as hell) then play with the free dove balls or a cheaper ball.

And btw, I agree the unlimited qualifying rounds are a joke. I did it this year with the US Open. Then the Open qualifier came around and I knew the same thing would happen with it. So I played it a few times, posted a score, and told myself if it wasn't good enough so be it. I wasn't going to waste my playing it over and over and over and over.

A.) Not everybody is eligible to play in RGs and B.) the UL is free.

I agree with you and iukine but also see the economic side of it from a revenue standpoint. In the end I would imagine the field would be the same, unlimited play or not.

I don't think it's a gripe as much as it is an accurate observation. The way I understand iukine is that the better players, given unlimited chances, will always come out on top. I get where he's coming from. One look at the sub 60 rounds already, knowing full well the cut's probably going to be around 57-58, can be a little depressing if you're not inclined to pound away until you get there. To  a lot of players anything near a 60 is a great score, oftentimes a personal best.

I'm not sure changing anything is going to change who qualifies anyway. The good players will always be there. Only one chance to do it?-heh, they'll be pounding out the practice rounds under the tournament conditions until they can do it in their sleep. ;-)

As I said I don't agree with the unlimited play qualifiers either.

BUT you still have to golf the ball in the unlimiteds just as you do the one timers. Even if you shoot a 29 on the front you will still need to be -6 on the back to qualify. I guess my point is this: To even get to that point of a 28 or 29 on the front, you have to have game to begin with.

Jim....the revenue for WGT will not change whether people are playing 1 or 50 times each in the qualifiers. They are certainly still going to be playing WGT , they just won't be playing in a qualifier. They will be playing with friends or in a RG or something. I think the qualifier list may be similar if everyone had 1 chance but definitely gives the lower level player a better chance if all had 1 crack at it i think.

Same old addage applies.....if better players have as many opportunities to qualify they will simply win all the time. If  everyone had 1 chance you would definitely see a few of the lesser players make it through.

Its just not realistic to make it unlimited.......where in golf to you ever get unlimited chances to qualify. Its not so much "qualifying" if you have unlimited chances to qualify as it is "target practice".

Unlimited Comps is a great way for new players to learn a particular course,I remember when i would enter unlimited comps at BP off shorter tees over 12 months back and i got to know that course inside out,Sadly now i have lost my appetite for unlimited games,I will have 1 or 2 try,s every few days and that's it,Unless its an Open Qualifying situation and there again its also to learn the course inside out,Its very convenient to press restart and take a few mental notes,
