I'm glad it's unlimited. I can't seem to get through 18 holes without the meter shagging me so hopefully just 1 round will be glitch free

Especially since some are TM tees which gives us legend a nice flashback.

Edit: Pfft "us" legends... cant speak for myself since ive got a long way to go to get their, what i meant was im sure legends would like to get a few chances to play from shorter tees once in a while.

I think the theory that single play would give more people a chance of qualifying is the reverse of reality.  As has been said, for many racking out a 60 is superb - and it really is.  But for the better players with their game face on - off Tour Pro tee's - will rack out the 60 in one go.  Hell, I DON'T consider myself one of that group and I fired off a 60 on my first go.

You only have to look at RG's to see that often very low scores get pumped out in single plays.

As players, we are trying to get into the "top 100" - all comers welcome.  To do so has nothing to do with single play or not - it requires superb play and is by itself something I consider an achievement.  Maybe, if it was single some of the "top players" might miss and an odd wildcard might jag a hot round and get in.  But at the end of the day I think the players on song will get in regardless.

BTW, as it stands at the moment, I'm one of those odd wildcards.... :)

For those who think unlimited play give more people a chance, I would like to point out the cut is now down to 58, with 2 weeks still left, so I think its safe to say the cut will be at least 57, maybe as low as 56.  If it was single play the cut would still be low, but probably in the ballpark of 61ish, which I could maybe pull off.  Lets pretend it ends up 57, thats -15, someone of my level would have to shoot an almost perfect game to score that, because we can't even access the equipment necessary to be able to score that low.

Eagles are basically out of the question for us from these tees, unless we get a lucky approach shot to go in, which leaves only birdies (15 of them).  15 birdies with my equipment is almost impossible as there are some holes that I can't birdie unless I get very lucky, namely holes 4 and 5 (also easy to get a bogey), plus those that are extremely difficult to birdie, like 8, 9 (extremely difficult to put close without much spin), and 17 (very easy to end up in water, or well short with inconsistent clubs).  Even if I manage to birdie 3 of those 5, i need to get 12 of 13 birdies on the remaining holes with my inconsistent clubs, plus putt perfectly on tourny greens (my tier plays very fast).

As it stands, unless I can have a perfect round and have every bounce go my way, or get lucky enough to drop a couple eagles, there is no way I can hope to qualify for this.

    I look at this way:

Every golfer would love to win the US Masters, but 0.0000001% get the chance to try each year.  They are the guys that practice every day, have support, coaches, sponsors, the best equipment tailored to their game and if necessary specifically to Augusta.  The rest of us dream, and then watch it on TV.

Here, the average player of lower tier and equipment competing against the best shouldn't get too demoralised that they can't get in.  Whilst average joe finds it challenging to the extreme, remember also that for high tier players the tee's are easier than their normal game, the greens are what they're very used to.  It stands to reason that they'll do very well.

    Poor save.

Your score history pretty much proves my point.
