Surely, WGT can't be that cynical. Best of Stroke Play has every water hole in the game. They can't possibly want us putting balls into water, can they? Surely not. :)

Edit: And how can it be Best of anything without Oakmont holes??

lol...  and heavy wind my friend, and heavy wind :P... I just went to see the course with the free balls, no way I will be playing it to lose several sleves in the try... :D

Interesting observation, although I don’t recall that being the case. I’m sure you’re right, though.

WGT is not unlike just about any business. They are going to do what they can to grow and maximize profit so it wouldn’t surprise me if they planned the ‘best of’ stretch of holes with that in mind.

I still think it’s way wrong that any ball which goes OB or in the thick crud is considered a ‘lost ball.’ That’s just not right and smells badly of profiteering. Balls that go in the water are a bit of a different story….but…….to program a golf game with “realism” as a primary goal and then blatantly incorporate the ‘unrealistic’ lost ball parameters is a clear contradiction. I play real golf and I watch real golf and balls are NOT lost 100% of the time just because they exit the boundaries of the hole. This, for me, is the only part of the game that strongly suggests profit over realism which is too bad.

I did accomplish a personal goal on the Best of Course today.  The par 5 at RSG, can't recall if it is the 10th on Best of or exactly which hole it is, but the one with the burn across the fairway about 300 out.

Had a 15 mph wind behind me so I eased back 10% on my R11 driver, the ball hit something in the fairway and rolled across the bridge that is over the burn, leaving me about 200 to the hole, my intent was to lay up short but I have always wanted to hit it across the bridge.  Come on WGT shouldn't that be one of the awards.

I mentioned getting over that little bridge in a game once.

why the 9th on Oakmont ain't included I don't know.

well for sure, you'd have to be playing hellish to lose a ball on Oakmont.

    ROFL nice one Andy!

@TS: I dont know how to respond to this except in one way "Dont hit it in the water then! " and we can all show them (WGT) how pro we are lol. I seriously doubt that went into the thinking of the WGT best with that in mind but never know. Although you may have given them an idea. WGT presents "18 holes of hell, only water , high wind situations. Lose you balls with us! " Lol then you would know for sure what they thinkin!

    Mes.
