    GreenLaser:

I see youtubers (including Bryson DeChambeau) use a wedge for short putts fairly often. Not much chance of them damaging a green by doing that, but it still seems wrong somehow.

The aesthetics of it kind of make me cringe too.  But it's a legal shot, so it should be legal in WGT also.  Jason Day just tried one yesterday at The Masters.

However in real golf if you used a wedge on the green there is a good chance that the greens keeper would ban you from the course if he saw you doing it. This actually happened to me 60 years ago when I was 18.

I have to agree with Joe here. Back in my early college days, I worked part-time at a local course during the summer and trust me, the greenkeepers talk about golfers way more than you'd think.

If someone's out there hitting wedges on the green (especially if they're a regular), chances are the crew knows exactly who you are and it's only a matter of time before the marshals come over and have a real conversation with you. Me personally, I’d just keep it low-key and stick to my putter on the green. LOL

Seems to me I have seen some putting with a driver or 3 wood on the greens but I could be wrong.

Well, that's a different story, Brian. You usually brush it with a wood like you would with a putter so it doesn't leave a dent on the surface.

Anyway, yeah, I actually witnessed that once too. My friend lost it, broke his putter in anger, and ended up putting with his driver for the rest of the round. LMFAO

FWIW, Phil Mickelson has used a wedge several times on the greens, and while they are entitled to dent the green with these legal shots.

OTOH, there are no dents left on WGT's greens by any iron shots, so, no worries here.

In the old awards system there was Choke Relief

Make Par or better after a drive of 100 yards or less. Someone found that if you made your par putt with  your driver you got credit for the award. So many of us did that until WGT fixed it.
