I found another simple task people can perform in Windows to help smooth the meter.
Closing all of your computers applications before starting a game will assure all resources are pointed towards freeing-up RAM. Its a simple four step process.
Right click in the empty space of the task bar (bottom of screen) and click start task manager > click applications > click on the applications you want to close > click end task for each application you want to close. That's it.
This will assure nothing is running in the background during game-play.
Here's a helpful how-to article that will explain in more detail about applications and other things that can be shutdown for better performance in Windows.
A big thank you to Richard for helping out the community. I am personally very grateful.
Been trying to solve my meter issues (lag) for many months and spent lots of hours in my quest.
I have cleared my start up through msconfig down from 20+ to 5 now. Have no other applications running (just comodo) and do all the other stuff like clearing the 3 cashes, and having no other windows open. But the problems are nearly always the same. Very occasionally I will have a smooth meter, and what a difference that can make.
In the task manager I have 50 processes running and lots of services running to. While'st playing the game my CPU usage spikes alot from 0% to over 30% at times. Could this have anything to do with the lag in the meter?
Just wanted to ask for help and to say that by doing things that you have kindly suggested have not worked for everyone.
Again thank you very much for suggestions that you have made I have learnt alot through them, and hope to hear what you think may still my the cause of my and probably alot of others problems.
