Salute these brave and stubborn players who are committed to the long and perilous path to glory. :)

Too much up & down; like waves on the ocean...

USGA average slope rating is : 113

Actually,  for me I find St.A  one of the hardest courses...lol, but that's just me

That Old Course rating should be from the yellow (Pro tier) tees...

The whites (6721 yds) have a CR/slope of 72.8 / 132 AFAIK, and from Open Ch./Legend tees it plays 7242 yds. Guess a rating ;)

I have set a goal to reach Tour Legend.  I have a current average of 65.59.  I will be using G10 Irons(lol) and B-ES golf balls.  If I shoot a 31 my average only drops .04.  This is certainly going to test my sanity.

    i feel ur frustration ..

my avg doesn't even drop anymore with 30's .. i gotta shoot sub-30 for a marginal drop .. 29 only drops my avg with 0.01 right now ..

    just hang tough ..

    +1

Sheesh, going to be a long long road when 28 drops me a whopping .01 lol.

At 61.42, there's plenty of room left ;)

Any 31 and less will bring you closer, and most probably the 32s also. 33 - dunno, it depends...

Problem is, it depends on replacing higher scores, and the margin melts down.

If a 33 replaces a 34, a 68 is kicked out by a 66 in the average pot. Two strokes difference work within 500 scores, thus the difference in average is 2/500 = 0.004, often invisible under the cover of rounding in the second decimal. You don't see the average becoming better but it happens!

I had imagined there was the silent decimal.  Explains why a 31 drops me .01 on occasion but not always.

I just made Tour Master 3 days ago by playing the back 9 Kiawah to get to 63(by draining a 28 foot putt to get to the number). But,I am not fanatical about the best equipment always,my purchasing is somewhat haphazard.I am  to get better.I realized that I could not hold a 63 average playing Oakmont,Merion,or other hard courses,so a 63 is kind of a fake average.Idon't enter RGs or any money tournaments for that matter. Some may call me a sandbagger by not going for Legend when I get to level 95 or whatever but I don't pay attention to them.I am a musician and do other things but I love this game.Besides, when I play at home,my 3 kids interrupt me every 5 hours because they want food or some other thing,I don't know,I'm focused on a putt. ;-D See you around, people and Merry Christmas.

LOL. There's a new breed of sandbagger showing up-those 60-61 Legends that play more AS than anything and own the game. TL/L matches gotta be gettin' good.  :-D

Hats off to all who are already a TL, and to those striving to reach that goal. I do not see me ever achieving this. I still play like I have since day one. I use no gadgets what so ever, notes, putting gauges, no calculator and what nots and so forth. I play for fun only and I win some and lose more. I fully understand the ones who want to be the best of the best on a virtual computer game. Nothing wrong with that at all. I feel fortunate to be able to do what I do at times on this game. I believe my friends accept this, and most enjoy sharing a game with me. They all know if I am their partner they have a 50/50 chance of winning,  if they are shooting good. It takes dedication and a lot of games played to reach the upper level. Best of luck to all that have set this goal. Stay with it your day will come.
