    saltiresfan:
there are certain shots especially with the 3 and 4 iron that they significantly outperform the burners on.

YUP ^^^, the 3i is worth the price of admission alone, hang in there Chris..

The 'Bladz' seem to make the G20s obsolete now ? A perfect meter speed WGT.(I said they make the game "too easy" in another thread...I'm just envious that they weren't avaliable back when. {:-))

i was just thinkin' the same thing Andy .. but i guess plenty people still prefer a slower meter ..

i find it easier gettin' on ding at 12pm as apposed to 11am with the lvl83 20's for example .. likely cuase i've gotten more used to the faster mtrs by now ..

i'll stick with my orginal plan .. gettin' the R11's is a no brainer .. although, i've always owned 2 iron sets .. heheh

I'm only  3,055 points from level 90 and am currently using the level 59+ Ping G20 irons. I to was waiting on the R11 irons. Then these come out at the last minute with a meter speed just 2 hairs above mine. Really making me have a hard time deciding with another set in the line up. I played with the Taylor Made 2.0 Burners ( Level 27+) when I was Amateur and they were sweet. They were then replaced with the level 27+ Rocket balls with the same stats. Stick with Ping or go back to Taylor Made?......decisions.

And I heard through the grape vine that the Pings do not have as much higher loft as the Taylor Made irons. I have seen this myself on occasion when I miss those high elevated greens with my G20 irons.

I think I'll just see how others review them as players start renting/purchasing them for now.

    A succinct reply.....however,

    What I mean is..

    They are not as long..

    They are less precise..

    They have less spin..

    And they are more expensive..

If you are aiming for the R11's (which most L90+ players I play use) then the meter won't help in the long run either.imo

Hi Chris - I played a long while with the Burners and only moved to the R11's after this years US Open at Olympic.

I found the R11's problematic in that the extra spin on them combined with the top level Nikes' spin meant some pretty severe wind effects, but changing the way you use backspin gives you more range on the R11's.  ie About mid backspin with R11 and Nikes is equivalent to full backspin on Burners and Legend Callys.  Which means you have lot more backspin available should you need it.  Makes a difference on holes such as Oak #9, front pin (R11 full backspin, you can actually land the ball on the green and keep it below the hole), BPB #7, right pin (can also go for pin and keep it within 2 yards of the hole), BPB #4 (have had a few putts for Eagle (green and not back fringe) here with R11 3i).

Another big R11 advantage is (as has been mentioned previously above) the 3 iron.  The extra 5yards might not sound like a lot - but it goes a long way to bridging the gap between the 3w and the 3i - and with the extra spin range available on the R11 - the choked down 3w becomes pretty rare.

    Two downsides to the R11's:

    1) Although the specs say R11 have a half a dot more forgiveness, I found the Burners to be much more forgiving in terms of left/right deviation when missing the ding - may just be me, but thats my experience.

    2) The 5 yds less on the PW of the R11's limits your 101 to 112 distances.  Punched PW R11 is 103 yds vs the punched PW Burner of 108 yds.

But, and an important but, the new Rockets have a slightly slower Meter, and it aligns your meter speed with the R11 driver and R11 3w.  That should mean more dings hit and you can never discount that benefit to your game.  Seeing as you are already used to 1pm meter speed on the Burners, that should not really affect you when you upgrade to the R11's.

My opinion, hold on for the R11's - that 3i and the extra spin avail are game changers.   Plus, you will save 2500cr, cos even if you do decide to go for the Rockets, you KNOW you are gonna have to try the R11's when they become available.

What makes the R11s superior are the 3, 4 and 5 irons. Find out how those 3 irons play in the RBs, it might change your mind. Having the same meter speed throughout your entire bag is beyond huge.

WGT introduce a "new irons" set, Rocketbladze, and what are they???? They're the burners with a new NAME.  This is getting lamer & lamer.  Why not keep the burners but introduce the bladze with a slight difference, extra forgiveness or something, not just swap the burners fpr the bladze and then hype them as new equipment.

The people WITH $$ to spend on this site (built up credits) never get  decent equipment to rush out to buy, it seems lately all the new equipment are old irons re-branded and never aimed at tour legends.  Please, give us something worthwhile to spend $$ on

And spend $4 on a bag which is only ornamental, what next for us $10 for us to have our pet dogs on the tee with us.

My current iron set is the Ping G20 (+59),last weekend I could try out the L79 RocketBladz and... Well in just one day I realized about the big difference between them.

The RocketBladz irons  overcome the Ping Irons  by far.

    That's my point of view.
