    andyson:

    alanti:
what does concern me was the side venture in baseball and whether this has sucked money away from WGT

When you consider there was no new HD Open course last year, and the money had to have been budgeted to shoot one, so you've got extra $Ms to pocket or re-invest  I think the answer alanti is obvious.  They chose to re-invest in a baseball game.

So here's a question for all of you.   The deal to photograph Royal Lytham couldn't be made.  What if they could have made a deal for a TruGolf version of Royal Lytham and then paid TruGolf for the course "photos" so RL would be a free Open course.  No greens fee.  Then hold a Virtual Open, etc.

Would that have been more acceptable than no Open course?  Knowing of course a HD version was out of the question.

Since the Baseball game started there has been a bit of a slide from Wgt's Golf Game.

So is the golf game subsidising the baseball game or visa versa.

I think we are all pretty looked after with the Courses we have at the moment.... When I started there was only 2 and a half course to play.

Most of us don't like the True Golf Courses (actually, I don't mind Cabo)...  so until Wgt can make a new course we have to be happy with what we have.

There has been a bad trend in the last few courses that Wgt has brought out....  Cong, Oly and the new one coming out shortly.....   Sad in saying... they all look the same (sought of look the same) Wgt has to map out different looking courses... eg Wolf

    You are and you aren't

Whether a word exists or not really depends on whether it's actually used or not.

If enough people use it any word exists, it's just up to the dictionaries or wordsmiths to catchup.

     C/P from Webster's

    ir·re·gard·less

    adverb \ˌir-i-ˈgärd-ləs\

    Definition of IRREGARDLESS

    nonstandard

    Usage Discussion of IRREGARDLESS

Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that there is no such word. There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead.

    Examples of IRREGARDLESS

    1. I told them that irregardless of what you read in books, they's some members of the theatrical profession that occasionally visits the place where they sleep. —Ring Lardner, The Big Town, 1921

    Origin of IRREGARDLESS

probably blend of irrespective and regardless
    First Known Use: circa 1912

    I'm with you Roger.

The tie in to the USGA and R&A is good in ways but bad in others.

The USGA sets up the Open courses in such a way that many of them seem to be pretty similar to each other.  The biggest exception will be Pebble Beach when it comes to the game.  Shinnecock Hills, Pinehurst and Winged Foot will look a lot alike on WGT.

In terms of the British courses, all of the have a similar look and feel.

My view is that once we have 3 links courses and 5 or 6 USGA courses, it might be the time to hit some of the PGA courses, both the tour courses and the one that the PGA Championship is played on each year.

Variety is what will win out in the end.  Sure we all like to see the famous courses that we might never get to play in real golf, but throw us some others as well.  2 courses each year, a tru golf course and a CTTH course should be the norm.  Also all new courses should have 2 sets of pins, that is almost like adding an extra courses for very little money.

No mention of Muirfield in last night's update. Probably isn't looking too good on that front. Hope there's something else in the offing.
