Well, while there are some holes where an advantage is provided - last night the glorious new driver cost me a double bogey on the BoH RG because on the CCC #4 hole it didn't clear the tree in front of the tee box.  The R11S does easily even at the highest point of the tree.  I also had a drive with a heavy tail wind on the 17th at Olympic where a slight missed ding to the left (1/16th inch) went incredibly about 15-20 yards left of aim point and ended up in 40-50 rough - resulting in a par on an easy birdie hole.  This driver isn't a game changer and I'm seriously considering going back to the R11S or at the very least using it for CCC and BPB (where #2 the R1 has also clipped the trees and the R11S clears).

The r1 level 48 is 275 which is bs considering that all the other clubs at that level are 255-260 give or take. I have to wait till level 98 for the r1 which is ridiculous. It makes sandbagging so much easier. I can start a new account a make level 48 in two days, but for me to get the level 98 its going to take 2 months. Thanks wgt

I've heard stories about growing pains with the club.  From what I've heard its difficult to bend shots around obstacles as well as it has a lot of forgiveness.  But I wouldn't take it out of the bag:)

I was playing a Skins match against a friend of mine on CCC and that first par 5 over the pond I hit my ball 248 from the pin and he hit his 228.  I had to play left for a birdie and he went right at the pin for an eagle.  He won 4 or 5 skins on the hole and that was all that was needed.

I think expectations can be so great sometimes the reality is bound to fall short.

It seems to me the best way to see if this driver really makes a difference is by looking at the scores of those who have it and seeing if their average has gone down since buying it.  I checked a few profiles of those that have the driver and found most of them play so many rounds their scores before they bought the R1 aren't shown.

Anyway, I have the figures for 2 anonymous players.  Their average for their last 10 rounds before buying the driver and the average of their last 10 rounds played.

    Player 1 before R1 = 57.9    after R1 = 55.7

    Player 2 before R1 = 59.4    after R1 = 57.2

I realise this is too small a group to draw any solid conclusions and we have to bear in mind they probably use the new slower meter Nike ball which might account for a shot per round.

Whatever the cause, dropping your average score (not WGT average) by over 2 strokes since early March is pretty good going, something must have changed for the better.

You also have to  consider whether during that time they reached the 500 legend or TL rounds played where after their average will only drop.

Also you must take in to account we've had 2 recent RG's from the kids tee's on Cabo & St Andys. The averages were bound to drop. Think my own has dropped 1.5 over the last month.

I took got that average from 10 individual rounds taken from their score history, it's independent of their WGT average.  I scratched my head for a minute as I thought about the saturation point having an effect but it doesn't.

Dazza raises a good point though, short tee RG's are going make a big difference when using only 10 rounds to work an average out.

It kept me busy for half an hour anyway and absolutely amazed me when I saw how many eagles the top players make per day.
