I have played now with several guys who have it, and at RSG they were hitting bunkers which I have never seen before, at around 360 - 380 yards out.

I am more concerned now with reaching level 98 than with anything else.

    It is all consuming.

What's all this fuss over a few yards???  I still use the R11s and dont feel at all "inferior" to a player who has it.  WGT are not going to unlock it to no one unless they're level 98 so no point in bothering.  No ready go is won on the drive, its your approach & especially putting which wins you a tournament.

The best statement i have heard from you in awhile and i fully agree. I want to know how many people would bet me i could not make top ten next month with the level 80 rocketball driver.

I will bet you only if you get a job 1st and stop playing 12 hours a day! LOL

You would play well with hickory sticks ...

Lol at Jack i am working now if i wasnt it would be 14 hours but all i need is 6 a day i play on skype most of the time. See you later buddy

It is longer and more accurate, we know that much.

    But not much more.

Since the difference is not much more, you wouldn't mind if all Legends and TLs could buy it.  Right?

5 yards longer, twice as forgiving (2.5 dots to 4.5 dots) with a SLOWER METER?!?

     Yeah, that's fair!

It would be fun if WGT could show stats for certain time periods. I'm pretty sure my Driving accuracy have increased 7-8% after I got the G20 driver and that surely accounts for quite a few birdies. I'd imagine the R1 would give a similar increase.

That said, I am not upset with the R1 being out of reach (it's 2-3 years up ahead and I doubt I will be playing this game, at least not in this shape, by then), but it is a bit strange that WGT makes the extreme clubs easier to play. In my opinion, going for those extra yards should come with an extra risk. A bit the same with the balls, you buy distance, spin and a slow meter. It would be more interesting if you had to choose.

    Maybe something like this:
    Legend tier balls:
    Total "dots": 11

    Master tier balls:
    Total dots: 9

And so on. Then there could be a varity of balls, like the top level
    D: 4 distance, 3 spin, 2 feel and 2 durability
    S: 3d, 4s, 2f, 2dur
    F: 2d, 3s, 4f. 2 dur
    X: 4d, 4s, 2f, 1dur
    Life: 2d, 2s, 3f, 4 dur

Same principle could be applied to clubs.

I understand that WGT want equipment based on levels, so that we play like maniacs to get XP, but there must be other ways to achieve that. More stats for instance.

A good thing, for WGT, with the method described above is that here would be no "best" club and "best" ball, therefore we would probably buy more things, just to test.

I, for one, have my R11's and there is nothing better we can buy. I even hope there won't be anything better since they have almost made the game less interesting by (together with Nike's) more or less removing the roll factor.

Yes, sure I could use the starter clubs, or buy some Raptures, but I also want to win something now and again.

Yes, I think the OP needs to actually identify how many lvl 98 players have actually purchased and use the R1 for this study to be more accurate...

Looking at the Top 250 Earnings Winners list for April.

76 of the 250 were L98 or above and eligible to buy the R1 driver

    65 of the 76, 85%, have the R1 driver.  11 don't have the R1.

In the top 25 earners, everyone eligible to buy the R1 have bought it.

    Of those L98 and above:

    • R1 users averaged $404,
    • Those NOT using R1 averaged $163

Yes, but the top 10 or so earners have always been top 10.

I did a quick count and 51 out of the top 100 are level 98 and above.

This mean 49% (if I counted right) do not use the R1 -due to level restriction.  I didn't look at the players 98 and above in the top 100 that do not use the R1..so there is probably more than 1/2 the top 100's not using it.

So yes Andy, you numbers for earnings makes the R1 look like the money winner, but my numbers show you don't need the R1 to be competitive.

    Lol..it's how data is displayed.

The length of the new driver is nice but noticeable really only on a few holes/shots.  The forgiveness is also really good - but so was the R11S so I haven't really noticed any difference there either.  My scores haven't improved since switching and that is the real determining factor.  Hitting your approach shots close and sinking putts are what matters in this game.  An extra 2-10 yards off the tee won't change much from the tips.

one day they will reach the end of this long cul de sac .

i meen how much can they improve things i.e balls, clubs, slowing down the meter ?

its a worry in my eyes i already think the game is to easy just my opinion of course

    :)
