It's really a shame that this event was organized so badly at every level - especially as the first tie-in between WGT and the European Tour:

    1. No publicity - players happened upon the event by pure accident and it was not listed in the tournaments.

    2. Eligibility - we were told that players from all countries were eligible, but in the fine print it seems that just a few countries are really eligible.

    3. Deadlines not kept - we learn after the fact that some prizes were staggered and closed earlier than the stated deadline. (I don't count the e-mail snafu, which is forgivable.)

    4. Expired prizes - receiving tickets to an event that is already over.

It pains me to have to say all this, as someone who

    a) admires WGT,

    b) adores KLM, and

    c) reveres the Netherlands.

A visit to the Amsterdam area is always a treat, but it can't be arranged at a moment's notice - unless you are already in the Amsterdam area.

It would be a class move for KLM to drop a pair of "comp" tickets to next year's event in the mail to the winners. They know who we are. Having a few of us knocking around the tournament next year is no skin off their behind. Make it VIP tickets and you've got friends for life.

First of All, to eivets, 7th place still qualifies you for the lessons.

Secondly, calling an Irish person a potatoe eater could be deemed racist, since we stopped relying on the potatoe as the the main part of our diet after the famine, and we now have shops and even fast food stores that sell food.

Personally, I don't eat them that often, but I digress.

Awarding the tickets at such short notice is just wrong. As I said earlier, hardly any of the winners, including myself, will be able to use them.

Having improved my position since the ticket email to now be in 6th, I am in the other boat. I am glad the competition doesn't end until the 12th/13th.

However, I agree that the people who won the tickets especially the VIP ones should be sent tickets for next years event, and if I drop out of the top 7 places by tournament end, I should get one too, so that I might have a chance to use it

This is is just silly that all of this has happened. PLUS, has no-one mentioned that Admin called the tickets prize 'sweepstakes'? To me, that makes it sound like it was random. It wasn't. It was based on position, and (amazingly, for the first time) I was in a high enough position. But I can't drop everything and go to the Netherlands!

I'd rather have the cost of the tickets in WGT credits please. (That's 12000 credits, by the way. That would be me sorted for life!) I feel that I should getting SOMETHING for actually doing well enough to win. Not be punished for not being able to go on 2 days notice.

This whole tournament was beyond ridiculous. It could've been a very good one. I don't understand how it was never advertised and so ill-prepared....

I have tickets at the gate, if you are in the Netherlands and available to use them, I would love for you to have them. Message me and I will give you details on how to claim them at the gate.

    eivets:

More than confused @ this point. Was firmly in 6th place around the time others posted about the free ticket e-mail. @ that point in time didn't think it would apply to my position {free lessons vs free tickets} & it seems i was correct as i did not get an e-mail re tickets.

Shortly there after, S potatoe eater was lucky enough to shoot a little better than I. {good round Sean.} So, I am now 7th & in position for the VIP ticks. Correct? However, I've still not gotten any e-mail about tickets which would be unusable to me on such short notice anyway.

So, @ this point I don't really know where i stand in relation to the prizes. The only choice is to keep TRYING to beat BB & hopefully end up in front some how.

don't feel too bad about the lessons...those were for last week anyway

Throwing in the towel here. At the time of writing, I am in 8th place and I don't think I can improve.

Can I say a couple of things about this tournament.

Very enjoyable tournament. I have spent an awful lot of nights playing this and found it very challenging.

Fantastic prizes. Prizes down to 111th place.

    Now the bad stuff.

This tounament was promoted terribly by WGT. Half the players probably still don't know it exists. With the above prizes, this could have been one of the most played tournaments in WGT history.

Secondly, any prize below 7th came with a very short time frame in which to use it and in most of the winners cases, a completely unworkable time frame in which to avail of the prize. I was awarded tickets worth 120 dollars but had no chance of using them. I offered them to the originator of these posts, but don't know did he get to use them, so they could possibly have gone to waste.

However I would hope that in future if I win a decent prize, that I can be the one who gets the use out of it.

An earlier post suggested that either WGT or KLM should offer something to the ticket winners as a goodwill gesture, which would be the right thing to do, but no doubt will not happen.

Thirdly, two different dates for the awarding of prizes with no mention of this in terms and conditions (at least not on WGT site) causing confusion and anger.

    So in summation, WGT,

More tournaments like this with lots of prizes.

Promote the tournament and have it easily accessible from the menus (which this one was not)

Award prizes with an expiry date far in the future so winners can avail of them.
