    Marking last place at 37537th.

Last year there were  just over 90,000 entrants.

As people have said the greens are much more towards Bethpage than Merion which means you can lose a bit of accuracy on the (very long) approach shots and get away with it by holing longer putts.

I still think 4 is ridiculous. I've eagled 5 several times in practice but am yet to birdie 4! I do reckon 56 could be the cut rather than 57. There's still 6 weeks to go...

I've played a few M/Play and Skins games on the course, just friendly games. A good way of getting to know the course.

Playing single games on you can get to know it, but in a Muli player game you see where others are hitting the greens and noting down if it's good or bad.

I've only missed the fairway 3 times, one was 80/90% rubbish....yuck....lol

No way, there is not many 57's at all. Most people will stop at 57

It's a pretty friendly course to string together a good run on. If I had a 57 I'd be worried.

Agreed, also notice many good players sitting on 58's who can shave a couple of strokes and leap frog the 57's.

Played it quite a number of times now and am getting pretty frustrated.  Have yet to break 61 and it seems so simple!  Can hit the fairways blind folded.  Almost no elevation changes, hardly any wind, no tree trouble, no water.  Course is right there in front of you.  But miss the pin on the wrong side and you roll off into a bunker...  miss to the high side of the pin and get a little too aggressive with your putt and you are looking at 12' to save par. The greens are quite deceptively difficult I feel.  Get away from the VW Beetle sized area around the pin and you are going to get roll offs and much longer putts than you thought.

However, I must say that I have birdied just about every hole so far (just not in the same round) so I can understand the low scores.  It's just a question of playing mistake free - which I don't do very often.  Another month and a half to try and qualify... maybe Nessie is still out there for me.  A 63 average TL workin' hard... :-)

Naw ... only 61 people at 56 or better ... can't see 95 more shooters getting 56 or lower ...

I managed to get a nice round in at 57 and currently sit around 65.  I can't see 90 more people leaf frogging that number to knock out the 57's, at least that is what I amd hoping since I don't want to put in the time to get to 56 if I even can.

Course is very fair.  It only takes a couple of bad or average shots to ruin a round though.  As said before, the true playing areas on the greens are not large and the penalty for missing 10 feet left or right can be a shot that rolls into the fringe.

Even hole is a biride hole but at least 12 of them are also par holes.  Good luck to everyone, just don't move the cut line   lol
