Shoe was not correct. 40/50 is definitely playing differently, and is found around a lot of the greens. The ball seems to be coming out more easily, but with less spin.

    +1

shots certainly don't stop like they used to.

    I agree with this too.

I say go back to what it was previously.

If you get into more than 40/50 rough then it's basically a pretty bad shot and you should expect the worse and not expect to get out of it easy.

I think leave the normal game alone and maybe try to work on the U/Lie game to make that more realistic

Hmmm.... sometimes a "slightly" bad shot leaves you in 40/50 just off fairway around Merion for example.

Agree, use UEL to make more challenging scenarios. I aint played this game long enough to need more challenges...i have enough as it is and still learning the standard game!

When I have got bored and have time, i'll look at UEL

Being able to play an approach shot from almost any type of rough and have it stop at gimme length always struck me as unreal. The sudden overnight change has come as a bit of a shock to most players and the loss of this ability will be a game changer for some.

It has been fascinating seeing how players are reacting to this news. You can see human psychology at work in the replies.

Now that we have all had a few rounds with these changes in place, where do you think you are on the following progression? -

                        Denial - Anger - Bargaining - Depression - Acceptance.

I must be odd because this is how I've delt with it:

acceptance - depression - anger - denial (at some of the shots)

Yes, no doubt.  If i'm close enough to green then it doesn't worry me too much. Off the tee on Oly in 40/50 rough with still about 200yds to go ...then I'm in trouble...lol

In that situation on Oly,  I hit a bad shot off the tee, gone in the 40/50 rough, then I play safe down the fairway. If Wgt has made hitting out of the rough easier, then that type of shot, I would go for green.

Wgt do we get a refund on our CG's since they don't live up to their spin attributes any longer??? Let's try to make it harder for the cheaters instead of easier!

    Hi Fraenkel

I am not in pain and I don't feel uncomfortable with the situation :)   Just a new challenge!

    Have a nice day!

THANK YOU

Finally WGT takes a step toward some realism in it's game.

I haven't played in it yet, but if they're killing the ridiculous spin from the rough you can put on a ball, that's good.

There's almost no club in this game that hits like it's real life counterpart.

I'm beginning to wonder with the exception of a few players, if many on this game have actually hit a golf ball with a tour level club because, well ya.. Go buy any tour bladed iron, buy a box of V1x's, go to a range and see if you can aim and hit a ball with topspin.

    mlfao... topspin... lol

Still not tested it all properly to see personally how realistic or not I think it is, and frankly no great rush.

Some time to think it through though cheats will be falling over laughing at this.  I will probably still do the odd RG, but this increase in the cheats arsenal will likely mean a huge cut back in my play.

I am not some top player or someone who plays loads like some top players, but RGs I found fun. Simple fact is I am not prepared to give this one away as well at most places I an think of.  Therefore just talking about what I like I think they went too far with wedges as it's beyond what the game can support in a fair way.  They could easily tone down the spin on some balls, but that's ball sales so I doubt they need it that realistic.

WGTs choice but if I were in a market place where wagering was offered, and another place was more secure it's a no brainer.  No serious competition currently exists beyond hot air promises though.....

Not being a rule for all makes it a poor change from my POV.

    Hey Jim,

I'm left scratching my head as to how cheats would find any benefit from the rough change? It's the same for all of us.

As far as testing it, if we all play as usual we won't find the rough any more often anyway. I hit into it a couple of times to feel it out. Wasn't nearly the difference that has been bantered about here IMO. Still made my pars but the putts were slightly longer. Perhaps that was the point of the change then?

Still think in a week it'll be forgotten as just normal play. Cheers...
