You're playing a game and get to a shot near water. It's a crucial game so you put the starter balls aside and break out the 500 credit Nikes. After careful consideration you take your shot. A slight tailwind blowing away from the water hazard so you aim for the hole even though you'll be off a bit, you want to avoid the drink.

You ding your shot, so you'll be looking at a makeable putt. And then...plop!

Now, if you'd used a starter ball you'd get a 'water hazard' and lose a shot. But since that's a pricey ball, up comes the message 'Ball taken out of play.'

Come on, WGT. Why do you have to make it so I've got to hit my shot 10 yards from the hole so I don't lose it? And the fact is, if I hit the exact same shot with a starter ball, it probably would land where I aimed it, and not like there was a ball magnet sucking my expensive Nike out of play.

Do you really need the extra profit so much that you can't treat a 500 credit ball the same as a starter ball? Gimme a break!

All other things being equal....how do you swap your starter balls for Nikes mid-round?

My experience has been that if you switch back and forth from a "starter ball" to any "good ball" just for 1 round, the last thing you need to worry about is hitting the ding consistently, usually by accident when u do!

The smart money would bet on hitting a bad shot out of play at some point of the round!

Good story but it never happened . You can not change out either balls or equipment once a round has been started . That goes for either a practice or ranked round . for future reference try to take both bunkers and water out of play as much as possible . Also for future reference when you hit a poor shot dont blame it on WGT take it on the chin like a pro and move on .

    You can't switch balls mid-round.

My complaint is if you're using pricey balls you lose the ball if it goes in the water, not just a shot. I'm not talking about shots that land in the ocean, but ones that land in a gulley next to the fairway.

And, I don't know what others do, but I'm not using a sleeve of 500 credit balls for every round I play.

Some of these lost ball circumstances are some candy azzed  BS. I agree with that.

If its in water, ok lost, but in rough or OB rough it should be 50% chance lost and 50% chance the player would go find it.

    Hi

Fortunately for me, whenever I've shanked one gloriously wide the outcome has never been in doubt. Throw Big Bertha and a ding! missed by around 15 mins. into the hat and you'll see what I mean. Less stunned silence more hoots of laughter.

As for the wet stuff, the 17th Kiawah Is. for example, the fish there have learnt how to run!

    Happy hitting! Cheers

    Rich
