You guys are missing the point here.

At least what I consider to be the point here:

    JasCooper:

Do you really need the extra profit so much that you can't treat a 500 credit ball the same as a starter ball? Gimme a break!

I completely agree with OP on this. This is a simulator that makes the best effort to simulate real life golf. It is a good game on that matter. But there is absolutely no justification for deleting a ball that hit a water hazard.

Fine, the shot will have a penalty, the player loses precious points on the game. But that ball was paid for, and it is an electronic simulation ffs, don't remove me 150-100 credits just because ON A SIMULATION my shot landed on some water.

    This is pure BS.

Do you play golf IRL?  If so, did you ever hit a ball in the water and get it back?  It's not going to change.  Best thing would be to learn from your mistakes and stay out of the water and OOB areas and it won't be an issue.

You've played 166 ranked rounds in almost 5 year?  I did see you are playing more this month.  All that practice will help if you learn from your mistakes.  And seriously, you had to comment on a topic that hasn't been active for a month?

Out of curosity, is your CDP XP total also messed up?  Just wondering.  Enjoy the game.

In all fairness, in real life we have ball retrievers, which when lucky can fish a ball out of water. And I've found a few I've hit out of bounds.

On the other hand, when playing WGT we don't have to help our fellow players spend 10 minutes looking for a lost ball in the weeds. It all evens out.

A fair point.  However, IRL, when I would lose one in water you would have needed a boat, or a Golden Retriever.

In all fairness, you pay a lot for golf IRL...

Start with the equipment, garment, shoes, gloves. Next, you spend gas driving to the course, pay an entry fee - probably not less than 10 $, mostly a lot more. And you pay for your balls which you may find in the rough sometimes, but often you lose them or discard them due to wear.

These costs are much higher than a few sleeves here. My best guess for WGTland is 5 rounds of 18 holes with one sleeve, so it's 0.02 $ to 1.50 $ per round.

And don't say, "you can't compare it" - you started the show.

To me. the realism of the game is good but it's limited, and one limit is this "ball usage" thing. I consider it an entry fee, and I'm glad that I'm the one to determine this fee. I may play for free or I may play a dollar or more per game, as I like it!

Those who say, "I lose too much in balls" only have to shift down until it fits them!

I see. If a person disagrees, they are clearly missing the point.

    Gotcha!
