It would be nice to see WGT limit the number of qualifying attempts to some fair number, maybe 10.  I know that 90% of the players quit unless they birdie 3 of the first 4 holes but it would be nice on this and even the unlimited play tournaments to limit it, not to one round but maybe to something that is sane.

63 right now after 2 days of playing. You may need to break 60 to qualify.

Yeah I carded a 63 last night after making a bogey on 16 I think it was and was shocked to see that I barely made the cutline that is out there now.  I do believe that it will take a sub 60 round to qualify when all is said and done.  This isn't as tough as Oakmont was last year and equipment and players are better.  I do wish that WGT would limit the entries into this and all of the 'unlimited' tournaments, I'm sure that most of the players are quitting if they don't start 3 under after 3 on this course, not that I wouldn't as well but a limited number of attempts, maybe a dozen would stop that and make it a more true qualifying.

Or, and it's too late now, make the conditions not so easy for qualifying. As it is, these 63s are going to be high 70s in the final because 90% of the qualifiers won't know what it's like to play that course with Championship greens and High winds. The other 10% will figure it out on the first 2 holes and compete from there.

Here's hoping the British Open at RSG will have tougher qualifying conditions.

A  61 or less to qualify for a tournament. Just a little of the realistic feature of the game has been loss somewhere during the past few months.

WGT would not want to limit rounds for revenue reasons. The idea that you can play hundreds of rounds to qualify is absurd in a golf real world.  I would settle for unlimited practice but limited qualifying rounds. That would be closer to the real game.

    cyl6:

I was going to guess 59. Low wind, slower tournament greens, it could be very low.

Interested in your comment re the slower Tournament Greens ????? I am not seeing that at all !!  I am using my standard Tournament green putting data I have collected over time, as I use on all greens at Tournament speed - and to be honest my data is pretty well right on the money.

So ....... the green speeds look pretty standard for tournament greens.

    Cheers

    Doug
