The best new course to get here would be Chambers Bay.  It will host the US Amatuer next August and the US Open in 2015.  It was just listed as the 7th best public course in America.  Since you will do it for the virtual US Open anyway, why not do it now?

Mr. Ladenburg... I'm guessing you live in Seattle or Tacoma.  have you played Chambers yet?  I think I might cross that off my list by spring.  Bellingham here.

Augusta National would be my first choice. But how on earth will they be able to duplicate the many swales and ripples on the greens?

Pebble Beach, Southern Hills, and a classic course is East Lake Golf Chub in Atlanta. Home of Bobby Jones, it is a great course to play.

As opposed to Augusta National and Cypress Point I think the courses on WGT should be courses we can ACTUALLY  play in real life.  There is something fun about getting to know a course in a virtual game and then playing it for real.  Not to mention, in the real life version they always add the bird sounds.

Yes, I have played it many times. I have played many of the top 100, including Pine Valley, Torry Pines, and etc. Chambers Bay is so new most golfers have not been there or seen it. But, it's better than Torrey, better than Bandon, better that Scottsdale TPC. I guess the others posting here have never seen or played it. By the way, because of the sand construction, it plays fast and hard all winter. No mud, no water on course ever, don't even have ball washers. So, it's the best winter course in the state.

You obviously have never been to Chambers Bay.

Oh, just played Kapalua Plantation and Bay courses and two of the Wailia courses. Chambers is better. If you haven't played true Links golf in Scotland or Ireland, then you probably cannot appreciate it. It's like Port Marnought in Dublin. It got the US Amatuer and US Open faster than any course in history for a reason.

Although, Mr. Ladenburg, I do believe Pacific Dunes could have been selected for a U.S, Open site except for the fact it is not in or near a population center, which is a requirement for ease of attendance reasons.  I'll hold my course comparison until I play Chambers (this winter, now that you've given me reason to) even though I've read that many would choose Pacific Dunes or the upcoming Old Macdonald over Chambers.

Upon checking Chambers Bay on google maps, by satellite, which is my only recognition of this course, along with the long list of "jonny come lately" golf courses, built upon formerly useless pieces of real estate, which is the case of Chambers, and to think it could rise so rapidly without reputation, creditials or pedigree, is preposterous.

First, the google maps are two years old.  Second, the fact that it was built on 265 acres of sand left over from a gravel pit is what made it great. Every hole could be made perfect, just move the sand.  The fact that it has surpassed every course build since 1961 is proof enough.
