I tend to agree with Mio that RLSA will not be featured this Summer at WGT.com.

The course I do believe we'll see is the Women's U.S. Open course, BlackWolf Run located in Kohler Wisconsin.

    I'm guessing.

So therefore, i agree that Kiawah is a links course.

I've played Kiawah Ocean Course and I've played many traditional links courses, and Kiawah can NEVER be classed as what we now understand as a traditional 'links' course.

Not doubting you, Mio, but do you mind me asking how you know that Royal Lytham has been photographed?

Not a traditional links course but a links course all the same as it's situated on links land.

    Have you ever played it?

    No. Only here.

    DylynJ:
    It's situated on Marsh/Wetland...

So it's the links land between the sea and stable land. Even the Kiawah island website calls it a links course.

We'll agree to disagree because quite frankly i don't give a damn.

I'm siding with TarHeels on this one.  Kiawah is a sandy, flat tract on the ocean affected by ocean winds and weather.  I'd call that a links course.

    Agree.

The definition of links course: ahhem (need to clear my throat and get my glasses on) A flat, sandy course within 4 miles of the ocean.

Thats the definition and I certainly think Kiawah fits the bill. Also, if you watch the pros play Kiawah, it has insane winds and openings to many of the greens. Result? IT IS PLAYED LIKE A BRITISH OPEN LINKS COURSE IRL!!!!!

    Case closed.

When I watch re-runs of old Open championships I often see players putting from well off the green,

Hah! That just goes to show how unrealistic those Open courses are. We know from WGT that it's not possible!

It would be possible if WGT reprogrammed the links courses to have much firmer greens and much more running fairways (Like St Andys but faster and firmer). If you watch say Rory hit a shot from 200 full in both a links and a parkland, the links will run, without hitting a different shot, about 15 yds whereas the parkland will stop in 10-15 ft.

I have suggested this before as a green firmness option, but how about just make them (the links courses) firmer! RSG #3 is really annoying because you can't run the ball up the slope like in real life, so you have to stick a 3wd in 5 ft to get it close...And St Andys #11 back pin! U have a 15 foot circle to land in and its gotta stick there. IRL you would land it on the slope and watch it bounce up to the hole!

I thought that looked like a London phone number. Just as well I googled it before I rang. "Hello Liz, has Chad Nelson been round with his chopper recently?"
