chrisironsbones: Its got a point but i hate to say this but in matchplay matches the putts either drop or they don't, in other words, if a player is meant to loose a hole there's nothing the player can do but watch it happen and its out of your control.
By "loose" I guess you mean "lose," but yes, it's totally up to the folks at WGT, who monitor every single game. Therefore your match play record of 639 to 203 is completely meaningless.
No one mentioned any one being singled out, it could easily have been my opponent putt which sailed wide and mine sank into hole. Nobody thinks WGT monitors every single game, and if you even think that you're WAY off the mark. Some one has to win and some one has to lose, if your own mistake or opponents mistake doesn't cause you to loose then i will guarantee one of you will get a random deviant shot WHICH DOES cause you to loose. Take a match i played yesterday against a friend, it went to extra holes, and i told him watch one of our shots come up un-naturally short, and guess what happened on Cabo #1, my 135 iron with full spin landed bang on the money at 131 yards and a yard from hole, my opponents same club approach landed short of the green. Its not favouring or against anyone, its just RANDOM, i just happened to be the lucky one today,
"positive" deviation as well has just been labelled "positive", but its these type of shots, which tend to happen in a "hot" round, (I notice them when scoring better than 56) missing ding on break side of putts put they zoom straight for cup where as usually they would sail wide, 15 mph crosswind, you miss ding by a bit on WIND side, yet ball seems to fly straighter and lands close instead of being 10 yards either side of pin, and sliced drives don't fly off fairway like they should.
What most people are getting at, they would prefer a round where you are punished for these shots where its your mistake, miss ding/slice, wrong club and deviate shot all you want but don't land it close to pin like can happen now. Dinged shots should go where they are intended and ALWAYS be effected by the wind which is advertised. So if i ding my 100 yard wedge in 10 mph tailwind i should expect it to go at least 105 yards, not shorter than 100.
The past 3 days i entered the $2 ready go at Oakmont, i play the same every day, use same club yardages for spin and no spin and are fairly consistant. 3 days in a row i couldn't post a score i would get to 4 under then nothing seemed to work as intended, yesterday the 4th day i played exactly the same as normal, but this time EVERY shot seemed to go where i intended and yesterday i post a 57 and win tournament. What's important is that no one can win tournament's all the time, but when you get these "tough" deviation filled rounds and seem to struggle (clubs seem to be all wrong, and wind also not being straight with you) i can guarantee you the "hot" round is just around the corner!! And what keeps us addicted because you never know what type of round you are going to get.......
