My recommendation in this case would be to choose your partner carefully. Don't allow someone to become your partner that you don't know through your country club, here in the forums or recommended by someone you trust.

Very similar to the advice we give people who suffer verbal abuse in games or get fleeced by sandbaggers. Control over who's in the game with you is in your hands if you are willing to take the time and make the effort. Don't play randomly with people you don't know.

Well, RE: QUITTERS, Here's MY take on IT !  When someone (DISCONNECTS) it DRAGS the Other Players in Group to the "LOBBY for 2-5 Mins. WASTING TIME, if they'd JUST FORFEIT, a LOT of the "BEEFING/WHINING" would EVAPORATE !

AND, if WGT would UPDATE their SOFTWARE on a REGULAR BASIS, I'm sure MORE "BEEFING/WHINING/COMPLAINING would ALSO STOP !

Well, 4 WHAT it's WORTH, Those are "MY 2 Cents WORTH/ OPINION", and WE ALL know what is SAID about "OPINIONS", There like A**Holes We ALL HAVE 'em & they ALL STINK ! ! !

                    LOL & LMAO !

    borntobesting:
You did the right thing up to a point.  But don't quit on your turn. That freezes the game for everyone. Quit when it is not your turn and the game continues.

Learning here.  Not some one who quits so forgive me! I thought that was the go? You explain the extenuating circumstances, make the apology, wait your turn and forfeit through the menu?

Like I say only had to do it once and fortunately not a team game, but hope I never delayed things unnecessarily!

    FinalTable:

My thoughts are that players shouldn't be penalized for a loss in ALT Shot or Match Play simply because another player(s) disconnects or simply closes out their browser.  It's not fair at all to anyone.

What I'm talking about has absolutely nothing to do how well anyone preforms in the game jeffc46221.

what i am sayin FT is that when you play a game as a team your a "team" so if you or your partner quit than you both lose simple as that. There is no other explanation or explaining needed .

That's is exactly what myself and others are talking about.  People shouldn't  have to be secluded to just a Country Club.  This should be a game where you meet and play people from all over the world that you don't know.

Only the players who stick with the game, shouldn't get messed over because of a bad player on the site.

So what I take from you is that this should be an exclusive golf game.  Where people have their clicks and new members to the game, are walking blind.  I have found some really nice people whom have sent me a friend request or join my C.C. , from playing ALT Shot games.

I've enjoyed reading everyone's comments, and I like debates and to hear other peoples opinions.

It is my opinion that WGT should penalize bad players.   I can think of ways to do this while still letting those players play.

Suggesting that we be exclusive, is no way to gain knowledge.  We learn from everyone not a group of individuals.

Thanks for your thoughts srellim234 and until things change, I will try to choose my partner more carefully, but I wont be exclusive.

I totally agree with you; it would be wonderful if we didn't have to screen who we play the game with. I don't believe your goal is a practical one given today's society.

Like you, I have found a lot of great people on this site with my first contact with them being chance encounters. I enjoy gifting to people I've never had contact with before who have never heard of me either. A large percentage of those people are wonderful people who genuinely appreciate it and become friends, even if we don't fill up our friends list with each other because we dread the meter hiccups that result from a large list. I still have to screen profiles first to ensure my gift doesn't go to someone who doesn't need it or a profile that quit playing the game some time ago.

In the same vein, you and I have met through this forum thread purely as random/chance encounter. We have a good exchange and at some point in time I envision playing a social round with you (I don't play for credits). Others who come in here for insults and swearing I have no interest in seeing on a course.

We screen our contacts the same way in real life. Even at a golf course. we set up foursomes from friends we've met usually through something unrelated to golf (work, a social gathering, etc.).  I also enjoy going to the course as a single player and just meeting new people the course happens to put me in a group with. Most of the time they are great people and I hope they feel the same about me. A few have become friends and we have played together again.

I would not, however, put money on the line with those total strangers the first time we met. The same concept should apply here.

    67soggy:

i have been on for around 2hrs and have not completed one game due to quittersprotecting their precious score average.

can you introduce a system to add one full point to score avg . 3 points and then  5 in the same day  for repeat offenders to weed out the quitters

WINNERS NEVER QUIT & QUITTERS NEVER WIN

this is for the quitters out there .. YOU ARE ONLY CHEATING YOURSELF

    BUT ROBBING PEOPLE OF PLEASURE

    thanks 67soggy

There could be thousands of reasons for quitting and no one is owed an explanation for quitting; so who are 'we' to judge if they quit for a good or a bad reason? Why people haven't figured that out yet is almost beyond comprehension? It's just a game, take the win, move on and play another one because there will always be quitters no matter what. Besides, wouldn't everyone first have to appear in a Court of Law and be proven guilty of 'quitting a video game which warrants a penalty'? LOL

Perhaps what there should be a penalty for; is 'posting the topic of quitting ever again in this forum'? It's redundant/has been done to death and is part of the nature of the game. All in the spirit of humor; have a good one. :)

Agreed Soggy. Please WGT at least make the color coded checks more visible or color their names so others are more aware of folk with low completion percentage.

Maybe even make that an option too when looking to join a game. Such as tier of player, number of holes, shot timer and COMPLETION PERCENTAGE........

As the member above said we all have to quit sometimes, but there is a right way to quit and a wrong way. Maybe just track the "wrong way" players.

I agree with 67soggy!                                                                                                                                                                                    I've Started My last (5) Foursomes and by the time we finished we had 2.or just me. No Forfeits just disconnected and it is darn disappointing.  Then WGT comes on and  Closes the game if you don't go back and reenter yourself and continue.                                 Something aught to be done like points added or make the Forfeit button available at all times so as to not interrupt the game.  I feel it is inconsiderate to the Group when any player has a bad hole or two for them to just up and quit.   they should be penalized in some way. It's just fair to everyone else.  When you signed up for a Foursome you've made a commitment of sorts. It is so rude to just quit.

    thanks  DomG1
