    quakerdarlo:
One question tho......If its a "test match" why are some boundary ropes brought in.

This is taken from the ICC website re field dimensions.

At Test level, the International Cricket Council (ICC) guidelines state that the cricket field should be at least 150 yards (137.16 m) from boundary to boundary on either side of the pitch, while the straight boundary at each end should be at least 70 yards (64 m). However, no boundary should be more than 90 yards (82.29 m) from the centre of the pitch.

So they have probably had to bring some of the ropes in to comply with this.

Are both sides trying to outdo each other in batting ineptitude? England on top and should win from this position. But you never know, stranger things have happened.

To a point.  You have to give credit to the English bowling attack though, not much given away! I would agree that Aussie sides of old will be cringing watching the bowling's lack of basic line and length in the English first innings, and then especially the batting collapse on that strip just now!

    An Australian perspective:

To blame Australia's botched use of the Decision Review System for what happened between just before lunch and tea on day two at Lord's would be to let the batsmen off the hook.

The Ashes Test series is the Pinnicle of Cricket.  With friendly and sometimes heated good fun between the two teams and fans of the game.

My cousin married an Englishman and he is giving me hell at the moment...ugh., but I suppose I gave him hell when we were winning everything quite a few years back....lol

Cricket is ok, much better than baseball. My island took part in a euro competition this month but we didn't do too well, but at least we finished above Belgium. :-)
