England saved by 'The Bell' but The Australians, on what looks like a good batting pitch, will be more than happy to have England 289-7 at stumps on day one. They will be looking to wrap up the England tail-enders (not sure I understand WTH was going on by sending in Anderson as a night-watchman to protect Broad and Swann), then try and put some pressure on England with a big total. The home side, need the tail to wag and another strong showing from the bowlers. Looks like we could be in for another close match.

As an Englishman I want England to win, BUT this is GREAT for test cricket.....

I'm with you on that one Jim. You can keep your 'hit and run' 20/20 and give me a good, close, tense test match any day.

I'm hoping  the Aussie top order makes some runs this time.

The Last Test was the best I've seen for years and the 2nd test is shaping up to be a good one too after the first days play.

    Go Aussie

    +1

But the top order is flakier than filo pastry. Unless Clarke scores big we will struggle again.

The only way I see Australia avoiding a whitewash is if the weather packs in! SAD

I don't like Clarke too much. I think he has caused more trouble over the years than good.

This is a training camp for the Summer Downunder alanti......lol

Looks like being another close one...get "in" & runs should come...gonna be no rain saviour, not sure if england got enuff but we shall see

One question tho......If its a "test match" why are some boundary ropes brought in, surely a test match should be played to maximum field lengths, after all it is supposed to be the ultimate test.

    Just a thought

Maybe all grounds now have to be a certain dimension regardless of ground size.
