The thing about this is the fielder can't even be in the baseline on this play, if the runner would have had to avoid him by running around him they still call it....to set the record straight the 3rd base ump called the interference, but the home plate ump then has to determine whether or not he would have been safe had he not been impeded...since it was a close play he called him safe(obviously the right call), had they thrown him out by 20 ft. he might have called him out anyway....

In a nutshell it was a stupid throw to 3rd, Craig was going to be safe by a mile, the 3rd baseman missed a catchable ball any pro should catch, and for the 2nd game in a row the red sox lost a game because they made bad throws to 3rd they should have put in their pocket....I think Farrell has the entire team practicing throwing to 3rd instead of batting practice today lol....and all this whining over shadowed a great play by the sox 2nd baseman, that was a awesome play....also keep in mind Craig would have been safe anyway if not interfered with, b!tch at your players not the umps Mr. Farrell, the umps did their job your guys didn't....

My mistake,  what I saw was Home plate Ump call the runner safe

and then pointed to third base as to indicate a problem

When the tag was made at the plate and the runner was surely out.

Yeah, what Muddlebrucks or whatever, the Bosox  3rd bagger did is exactly the same as a leg-whip or tripping in football....
Leg-whip??  LOL Raising the legs had no effect, the runner tripped on Middlebrooks thigh which was on the ground.

    AGArgent:
SO obvious and sorry Andy, I disagree, the 3rd base ump WAS looking at it when the legs went up the second time with the intent to trip

    Sure he WAS!

And when he finally turned back after looking at the ball, he must have X-ray vision to see through Craig!

Hey, it was the Bosox that put the ump in the position to decide the game.  He gets crapped on either way.  10yrs ago the Marlins won the NLCS on a non-call (Bartman incident) and went on to win the NLCS.  This time the Cardinals were fortunate to get a call.

No one knows for sure what would have happened if the call had not been made.  Still a lot of BB to play in the WS tho.

Ohoh, I'm starting to feel a little sick, could someone remind my team that this is the World Series....

I must say I am more impressed with ortiz than I have ever been with any hitter in any post season in decades, make that ever...and Lesters pitching.

I'm not a fan of the game but enjoying the series.  Ortiz...wow what a player, very dangerous....  I wonder why they don't walk him every time he comes in....lol
