I can see where this is going. We'll have better caddies in the pro shop soon.

By far the 2 worst are getting the driver on long par 3's instead of 3 wood...

I can't tell you how many times I am 40-50 yrds out with a trap between the ball and the green and it automatically goes to chip or pitch mode....from that distance you look at the club but never give a 2nd thought to it being set to pitch! I am used to it now but every once in awhile it still gets me as I use flop or full shot even at 15 yrds....

other than that I seldom ever use the caddie selection after the drive....

every once in a blue moon it gives you a wedge instead of a driver but I am not 100% sure I didn't hit the scrolling wheel accidentally.....anyone else?

Indeed Dazza, still hope to have a b***h instead the baggy.
Possibly with two huge boobies. No one will be worry to miss the approach.

Just kindin' but it could be an idea.

    David.

It's not just the scrolling wheel. If you select a club then move the curser back across the clubs, it shows the last club the curser ran over even though the club you selected will be the one in use on the shot. I've learned to carefully move the curser away from the club selection box without crossing back over any other clubs.

Another observation on my part would be the caddie is basing the selections on the free ball distances not what's equipped in our bags. That's why so many times the recommendation is a club too many,.

IMO... it still comes back to the player having the final responsibility for the club and shot type every time.

I repeat:  Don't do anything to "fix" the caddie, just give us the option to disable the feature...just a simple on/off switch.

from plenty of players well capable of ripping up a course. This chit does happen, but lucky old you does not see this happen to you, well goody for you man.

I'm with you here, TMO. This crap has been happening a lot lately. Tell me how I can play a round where every approach is consistently 20+ yards short or long, where I can literally miss multiple greens with a wedge from inside 100 yards.... then go out five minutes after I finish that BS round and shoot -9 on 9 holes. Whether it be VEM or simply the game not hitting the shot with the club I've selected, 20 yards of distance deviation is ridiculous, especially 6-7 times in a 9 hole round. If it doesn't happen to you, consider yourself lucky, you're playing a different game.

Agreed. I have no problem with the shot types or clubs the caddy selects by default. Double check your shot type, double check your club selection. That being said, what I ask is that if I hit a 5 iron, I get 5 iron distance. If I hit a 7 iron, I get 7 iron distance. The 8 iron will always be a crapshoot, but I've come to expect and accept that.

It is my observation that the Caddy picks the club based on the club's Punch shot distance,

Inside 50 yards it seems to use the club pitch shot distance.
