    alcaucin:

My input to this thread is, say....fix the alt game 18 hole glitch first...OR getting par 3 & 5 scores off our stats as best rounds shot ?

WGT might find members will more appreciative for little things like that

Perfectly put here Andy....couldn't agree with you more.  I personally never pay attention to the caddy...just calculate everything in for the shot, and select the right club.  Here's a member right here that would certainly appreciate the "little things" getting ironed out first.

In addition I agree with some poster here that many of the real WTF's are caused by the game not registering the club change or the spin applied.

Good point  - I wonder? (Off thread but worth the highlight IMO.)

OK back to this late as is, but a good thread so want to do the service.

By far my biggest issue is the driver selection on many, not all, par 3s.  I don't quite know why, but the little booger must just know he can catch me out there most easily, and still does from time to time.

As said elsewhere would be nice just to be able to turn it off.

Fixing the caddie would be nice, but I'm thinking that it would be a pretty big nightmare for the programmers, depending on how the variables are coded. By hole? By distance? Would have to check whether bag has wedge or hybrid. Would have to have distance ratings for all clubs available. Could take a while to get it right, and heaven knows we don't need anything to slow the game down any more.

It also would be easier to take pics of when the idiot gets it right.

Yeah. I usually check, but have lost a few balls on the par 3 driver gig.

My vote for something to fix that should be an easy programming change? I'd love a flagstick made of fiberglass instead of concrete. Yep. I do sometimes forget to pull the pin on approaches and it has cost me a bunch of strokes.

I'm not pretty sure but in the last 3 links played I found a little difference after approach on the near by of the greens, pitch instead of usual chip directly from the auto-caddie. I never found this kind of choice as "first one".

Maybe I'm wrong but I think that something is done.
I like the pitch as first choice.

    Cheers,
    David.

    Hey there Icon...

I agree with many of the other posts, stating, "Leave caddie alone" it is fine!!

But Please Please Look into fixing the distance of our clubs!!

E.G. No Wind. 225 to green NO elevation. I chose my club 3w that I have used many many times on the same hole, and know it will stop right on the 225 with full back spin!

Take the shot "ding" ball stops at 200. Not sure why?

OH. And somewhere our CC members can chat without staring a game..

    Thanks WGT

Over all not a bad game.

    :)

This is a basic quest for the WGT Staff.

After the little improvement works about the auto-caddie from nearest shot by the green, I wonder if it is possible to sensitize the function when we are ready to putt. Many times happen that the auto-caddie choose for a low 15ft shot a forced 30ft. I know that the best solution is look at the selection but wonder why it couldn't be set to the minimum.

    Thank you.

    David.

    TWOMINUSONE:

Maybe the caddy is showing me the club i want to use, but in the background the settings are something different altogether, im not sure

Something that happens to me quite regularly is when I'm about to take my shot I notice something like this.

I've selected a 3 iron, I'm clearly holding an iron, even the image beside shot type shows an iron but it says putter.  I've never hit a ball to see what the result is but maybe this is what's happening to you too.  Obviously not as extreme as getting a putter instead of a 3 iron but if you actually have a 5 iron in your hand it might explain a shot like that.

And I agree with Dazza.  Leave the caddy alone, he's pretty harmless in his own special way.  If you try to educate him he might become dangerous.

I get this exact same problem at least once per round. It would be nice to see this fixed.

As for changing the caddie, if you're actually going to tweak it just turn off selecting the club and the type of shot. The caddie's suggestion should not be the shot we are already set up to hit. When a caddie suggests a shot to a player on a course he doesn't actually take the club out of the bag and hand it to the player before the player even looks at the shot.

I know in this game as I'm setting up a shot I always wind up checking the clubs to see different lengths each club hits and select again anyway. Clicking on the club I want is a standard part of my preshot routine, even if it's the same one the caddie selected.

Likewise, the shot type should be blank. Let the player select full, punch, chip, pitch, etc.  Don't allow the shot until club and shot type have both been selected by the player. It will become the automatic shot routine for everyone who has the caddie turned off.

Have in place the distance each club goes while you hover over it in the bag. I'm sure the vast majority of the people that play this game play it for occasional fun and aren't keeping detailed notebooks including club yardages since the information is already there.

Simply put, I don't feel tweaking is really necessary. If you do, however, keep all the information while removing the suggestions. Just remove the pre-selection of club and shot type and add a button along the lines of "Display caddie's suggestion" for those who wish to see it. Use the current program's suggestion code for that.

Any update regarding if/when  an auto-caddy disabling feature will be added?

My only suggestion (I'm sure it has already come up) is to default the putter to the lowest setting.

Its not a Caddie problem, but since the reset of last week it looks like nobody can play extra holes in an alternate shot match. Its done it to me 3 times.
