100% agree with fatdan. Front 9 is definitely tougher than the back. The back is pretty easy, and in general the course is tame if you can give yourself birdie putts. HOWEVER, the firmness and fastness is not to be overlooked, I've even had wedges with full BS hit in front of the pin on #10 and still creep past the pin and over the back of the green. The key is to just getting yourself on the green even if its a ways away from the pin itself, most putts are easily hole-able. I find myself making quite a significant amount of 20+-footers than I normally would on most other courses thanks to the same breaks around most pins. Just gotta improve GIR.

Just played my first round in the qualifier. I say the course looks awesome. Few very long holes. I will say though i'm kinda disappointed with the greens. The greens should be a lot harder than they are playing.

I shot 60 and left many birdies short dead center. It says champ greens, but not playing like them for sure.

I think once get green speed down some of these players are going to kill this course. Got a couple of tough holes if into wind par there will be good. Mostly though if land on the correct side of pin left with pretty much easy birdie putts.

To qualify i would say going to need a 57 at least. I could see Mags or one of the top players posting 53-54.

Well done WGT the course looks marvelous.

Strange that the 5th green is so similar to the 5th at Merion.

There are a few nice slopes on the greens for sure, but i find the ball stops rather quickly on these greens. I find ball does not stop as good on Merion.

IMO Merion's greens are a lot harder then these. You don't see really any of those sidewinders like on Merion. On Merion depending where you are at you could have a 5 foot birdie putt and be lucky to get par. None of that on this course.

From what i seen if land pin high opposite the slope left with easy putt. This course is long though. Few holes in heavy wind might have a slight problem reaching the green in regulation.

Wind direction on this course will play a big role.

    Greens more subtle than treacherous.

    Flat.

Visually a bit samey - pine trees and sandy soil - but hey, this is the Pineywoods South - it's right there in the name.

The 565-yard par 4 seems unreachable unless you have super-distance golf balls.

Not that many choices to make off the tee.

Got into the mulch in practice. It's not as penal as the mulch at Kiawah (PENAL MULCH!) - 75% distance on the recovery shot worked great.

I managed to reach the green on the 565 par 4 (in two) with a low end Callaway ball, so it can be done. The bad news is I missed the cut with a 68 and the tournament just started.

This is a very long Par4 ....lol Then again, it would be a very easy par5

Bertha 3wood is perfect for the 4th hole, but will be unreachable in a strong headwind, I would say.

Very nice Course.  Reminds me of Merion...  Looks easy but can bite you hard in the wrong place....lol

First game, I was -5 after 7 holes....  then Boge, Boge.....lol.   Lost interest after that.

I hit all the Fairways, but I would say a stray tee shot and your in big trouble. Greens are perfect ...  nice smooth rolls (if you understand that) compared to other courses.

There will be some low scores shot...  I think the cut might be as low as 56, once everybody gets stuck into it.

One thing I noticed....   There is no trouble off the tee...  like a tree in front of you or dog leg tree lined fairways that you can get into a bit of trouble when you hit em.  Very Refreshing.   Just have to worry about keeping the ball on the fairway.

    Very Nice Course

    LOL I figured it out...

I played 14 holes the 2nd time before I got tired...

    I made a 42 ft putt, a 32 ft, 17 1/2 ft, 22 ft, and 21 ft putt....and missed 3 more inside of 5ft...

Next round I will aim 15 ft away from the flag, although so far I've done a good job of not getting close without aiming away!
